3 Officially-Revealed Reasons You Earn Less With Adsense

Making less with Adsense?

You and I agree that one of the easiest means to make money online is Adsense. It is, to the best of my knowledge, the only medium that gives publishers some bucks with little experience, efforts, knowledge, or massive online recognition.

Or how else (online) can you increase your earnings within a few months? Affiliate marketing? Freelance writing? Sponsored posts? Direct adverts?

I bet you can't find the best alternative to Adsense and similar native ads. With Adsense, any publisher can start making from a few cents to hundreds of dollars within a short period. And all you get to do is write and publish your content around your areas of interest.

However, Adsense has been creating confusion in the industry. More content writers (especially the newbies) are clamoring they're not making any money from Adsense. Some who claimed they made however regretted it didn't worth the effort.

A publisher made nothing in months

However, thousands of publishers have made a great deal of money from Adsense (including myself). In fact million makers from the internet, today might not have got there without the Adsense, many of them started with Adsense.

Publishers earning more with Adsense

Adsense may not be the only way to earn money online, of course. That's why I detailed other means to earn more in my post "How Much Can You Make Blogging Part-Time or Full-Time?". Yet, it takes time, effort, money, etc to earn with other mediums than Adsense. Hence, we all support ourselves with Adsense earnings while we create better online recognition continually.

The Three Claims about Adsense Earnings are True

Some of us are so crazy about Adsense that we frown at any publishers call it a waste of time. Either side is right!

Something is just missing. And that's what I've been to address in this post.

Unlike in the post linked above, this post will summarize the official reasons people are making less or more with Adsense.

Yes, the official!

Google has tried in different official announcements to address this misconception. This money-making network is best for those who understand how it works. Google has revealed the three reasons you make less while I make more.

As a result, this post will address the Google-Adsense-Champion factors:

  1. The Region of the target audience
  2. The Niche industry of writing
  3. The volume of the traffic or Monthly page views

1. The Region of the target audience

Who are you wring for? Americans, Africans, Asians, etc? This audience determines your earning potential with Adsense.

Truth be told, if you're not residing in the right-audience country, you're less likely to write for them and consequently earning much. I meant to say it won't be naturally easy for a Nigerian blogger to write fascinatingly well for Asia and Pacific Countries and vise versa.

Understanding your earning potential depends so much on this background, you may need to train yourself to write for the audience outside your knowledge if you're in a less-earning country. After all, all that matters, in the long run, is the economy - not just the fun of blogging.

My findings had shown that a writer from Nigeria is less likely to make half what a counterpart is making in Europe unless they write for the same market.

More on this later...

2. The Niche industry of writing

By niche, it means the industry you write on. Do you write for jobs and education or automobile? Do you write on pet or health and fitness? This is an integral part of your earning potential with Adsense. The more appealing and economically driven your niche is the better it is for your bank.

Just like the target audience, the niche is country assisting. If you own a blog that writes for the Nigerian insurance industry, it will earn you less than your owned blog wring for the American insurance industry - if both rank well and equally.

In the example above, you're the writer for the two blogs. The choice of words are the same for the content being posted, the timing and ranking don't defer significantly. Yet, Your American industry will likely earn you higher.

3. The volume of the traffic or Monthly page views

You may not want to accept the fact that the volume of traffic matters in the long run in earning with Adsense. This is because you're seeing less traffic than those claiming higher income are stating. Hence, you're finding the shortcut to increasing your income with that few daily visits and ad views. Well, I'd got you covered in my post, "Tactics to Quickly Increase Blog Earnings With Small Traffic".

There, I showed you how I was able to increase my earnings, in the early days, even with a fewer monthly visits and page views.

However, one undeniable fact is that volume of traffic earnings you more. The higher the number of daily and monthly visits the higher the potential of ad spaces bidding for your bog and the possibility of these visitors clicking on ads. Less traffic will attract fewer clicks obviously.

Google had picked the 50,000 monthly page views in its computation to estimate potential earnings for its publishers. The monthly page views is defined as the number of times your website pages load and is viewed by human visitors per month.

With this, I want to warn you that until you start to be receiving quality traffic and up to 50,000 monthly, you may not rely much on Adsense earnings. Whereas, the higher the better!

Deductions From the three niches and four geographies

This is just an extract from the 27 industries Google adesnese accept publishers for. Namely:

  6. Business & Industrial

  8. Finance
  9. Food & Drink
  10. Games
  11. Health
  12. Hobbies & Leisure
  13. Home & Garden

My observation after checking through the niches and the countries is that:

Writing for the North American audience (countries) generally earns better for literally all the niches. This is, in most cases, followed by South America and by Asia and Pacific countries. It's unfortunate to report that African niches and traffic won't earn you as high as your counterparts from other countries.

Conclusion

The purpose of this post to open your eyes to while those who are making it big with Adsense are achieving that while their counterparts are lagging behind. It, as well, shows you how to approach your content marketing if you are serious about earning with native ads such as Adsense.

More so, it equips you with what else you should pay attention to if you can't beat the competition from the favored regions. If you can't beat the country or industry, you should work on traffic as that may give more earnings in the long run.
